Mongolian Language and Writing

Language

The official language is Mongolian. The Mongolian language belongs to the origin of the Altaic languages. The grammatical structure and syntax are very similar to those of Turkish.

In our country there are two main groups of Western dialects such as oirat and the oriental dialects kalkha.

The dominant group is the Khalkha Mongols, 79% of the total population.

The remains of the population are listed in about 20 ethnic groups of Mongolian and Turkish origin.

It should also be pointed out that there are more than 4 million Mongolia in Inner Mongolia and 500,000 Mongols in Russia, the Buryat of Siberia and the Khalimag

Mongolian writing

Mongolian ancient writing reads vertically from left to right.

In 1946 the Cyrillic alphabet was imposed as official handwriting and the old Mongolian handwriting was deleted and prohibited from use.
